Beds
- Beds will be assigned for the season, first to full shares then to half shares (on their share only). On any given weekend, unused beds (and air mattresses if needed) will be given to others in order of priority: (1) any quarter share members, (2) guests of members of that share, and (3) members from the other share who swap in.
- The layout of beds is:
- Upstairs MBR: 1 King, 1 Single (sleeps 2-3)
- Upstairs BR1: 1 Double, 1 Twin Bunkbed (sleeps 3-4)
- Upstairs BR2: 1 Twin Bunkbed (sleeps 2)
- Main Floor BR3: 1 Twin Bunkbed, 1 Loft Double (sleeps 3-4)
- Downstairs BR4: 1 Twin Bunkbed, 1 Queen Futon (sleeps 3-4)
Guests
- Your guests are welcomed at a rate of $50 per night with 3 nights minimum on holidays. Early/Late Season prices are $25 per night (usually pre-Thanksgiving and after April 1).
- Please request space for guests 1-2 weeks in advance, especially on holiday weekends!
- Half share members can freely swap any weekend for the weekend before or after. To add an additional weekened, though, they will pay the guest rate.
Linens & Towels
- If budget permits... We may provide pillows, sheets, and blankets for all the beds, enough towels for everyone (please try to use just 1 per weekend), and associated weekly linens/laundry service. Please strip beds and leave all laundry in the laundry room at the end of the weekend.
- If not... Then everyone needs to bring their own sheets and towel. Take them home to clean. The washer/dryer at the house are for wet clothing etc. people leave at the house.
- The house can get chilly. If you need extra blankets you are encouraged to bring them.
Cleaning Service, Trash and Recycling
- Weekly cleaning service is included in the share price. We ask that everyone help make the job as little a burden as possible for cleaning staff – this will keep our costs down.
- Please bag all trash before leaving. Bags are in the kitchen pantry closet and garbage should be left for pick up in the outside closet opposite the front door as you exit.
- We do recycle! Recycled items will be brought to Rutland or Whitehall drops.
- Also, please wash your dishes at the end of the weekend .
Food & Staples
- Certain non-food staples such as hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, dish detergent etc. will be purchased using Ski Haus funds. (Need reimbursement? See Tom.)
- Food items may be kept at the Ski Haus. Practice common courtesy – separate and/or label items if you don’t want them to be shared, and don’t just help yourself to others' food uninvited. Please discard all perishable food items at the end of each weekend!
- Water quality at the house is great. Bottled water is enviromentally bad.
Closets & Storage
- There are ample closets and dresser space in each of the bedrooms, and a closet in the entry foyer.
- Please feel free to leave your ski clothes, linens, boots, etc. in these closets. Leave closet/dresser space for others for when you're not at the Haus.
- Unfortunately, however, we cannot be responsible for lost/stolen items.
Skis, Poles, Boots and Boards
- When at the house, please keep boots, boards, skis and poles, outside next to the garage or by the front door, or left in the entry foyer closet.
- You are welcome to leave equipment at the Ski Haus for the season. There is ample storage in the basement. Again, we cannot be responsible for lost/stolen items.
Heat / Fireplace / Hot Water
- First arrivals please turn the heat up to 72º to warm the Haus. Thermostats are located in (1) the main hall, (2) the upstairs hall, and (3) the downstairs game room.
- Please lower all three thermostats to 60º when leaving the Ski Haus for the weekend.
- Please keep the bedroom closet doors closed. The bedrooms will stay warmer!
- The fireplaces are available for our use, but please do not leave them unattended!
- Please conserve water so that we don’t overburden the septic (it’s a house not a hotel).
- If the hot tub stops, it may need to be reset. Just unplug the electric and plug it in again.
Telephone
- The Ski Haus telephone number is 802-422-5059.
- Local calls are free. You must have a calling card to call outside the area.
- We will have high-speed wireless/wired internet available.
Unexpected Maintenance
- In emergencies, call Howard Smith at 802-236-7900 or 802-422-4241 (Sushi Yoshi).
Smoking
- The Ski Haus is non-smoking. Please use the deck or the front stoop.
Children & Pets
- Children may only be brought with prior approval, though the house is primarily for young, single adults who prefer it that way – and be aware that alcohol language, behavior and alcohol are quite conspicuous, etc., etc.
- Pets are only allowed in the house with prior approval from Tom and a security deposit. They should be confined to the basement and are never allowed upstairs. Owners will be held responsible for any damage/cleaning that result from having the pets in the house.
- Alternately, use a kennel.
Transportation
- You are responsible, but - don't worry! - we can and do help facilitate… lots of people in the Ski Haus have cars and would like the company. We’ll also put out a contact list to help you find a ride. Of course, if accepting a ride, please be considerate of the driver’s car, time, and fuel costs!
- Plenty of parking spots are available at the Ski Haus. Just don’t block the garage or the apartment in the back. The driveway will be plowed regularly, but does get icy. 4WD and AWD vehicles, winter tires are recommended first Some pushers a second.
- For transportation around Killington, you can use local taxis or the free “Barrel Rider”, provided by the Pickle Barrel. Call Joe at 802-422-RIDE for a ride.
Keys
- An extra door key for the Ski Haus will be left outside (location given to members – call me).
- Don’t forget to return the key to its place and lock the doors when leaving for the weekend!
Community
- The Ski Haus members are a diverse group and we ask everyone to respect the views of others and be considerate not to make other members and guests uncomfortable.
- We seek friendly, easy-going people able to get along well in a group with strangers. Intolerant, offensive, or otherwise anti-social behavior will not be tolerated.
- We want everyone to have a pleasant time at the Ski Haus throughout the season!
